Entry 15 - Editing

I actually used a lot of layering while editing this time. I found it to be a lot easier than cutting a shot and then adding a shot in between to make up for the lost shot. The layering just covered the shot underneath. For example, I made this whole black shot to see where I would have to add house scenes. Instead of deleting that when I got the shots to put in, I put the shots on top so that I can tell how many more frames I had to fill in. It was a position keeper.

For the title, I put it in as soon as the TV screen turned on, so it's like she's watching a MV as well.

I also watched this video called How To Make An Echo Video Effect - Final Cut Pro X so that I can make my film more interesting rather than it just showing shots. I used this for my bridge scene so that I can add this effect of hecticness and stress. In films they usually add this echo effect to show panic attack where everything around them just goes whoooooooo.

The shot where I have the blood appear on the mirror had a dodgy transaction because my hair was in a different position. Therefore, I had to add a transaction in between that blended the two shots nicely. When I used the cross dissolve transaction, the transaction shortened my shot and didn't really help to blend the two shots together. That's when I remembered using opacity from the previous editing. I made the blood layer overlap on top of the non-blood layer and then turned down the opacity so that it smoothly blended in.

I also didn't want the film to end with just a blood shot because that wouldn't relate to the TV screen motif that I kept on giving in my film. Therefore, I used an effect called camcorder, so that it appeared as if I was being filmed. I did this for my last blood shot, and used the same opacity method to make the camcorder appear nicely, not just out of the blue.

I also added Water Pane onto my blood shots to relate it to the bathroom, and make the whole shot appear scarier. In the movie mirror, water started coming out from the mirror of the bathroom because the other side was a body of water.

I added the glory shot for the panic shot as it created this nice dimension that looked like something a scared anxiety person would see.

I added the shot of the last blood shot on top of a TV Screen shot and then used transformation on the blood shot to make it appear as if it was on the TV.

I added the static transaction in after the TV appeared to make it appear as if the TV actually turned off.

Other general editing I did was quick edit, where I added different views of some shots to create this idea of confusion and hecticness. You can see this clearly in my last scene.
