Entry 16- 3 Backgrounds
Today, I restarted my backgrounds. The backgrounds that I did for today were the bed, the chair, and the half the bathroom that I messed up because of the shading. I think that it was a smart choice for me to convert my animation style for the backgrounds to black and white, line shading style, as it effectively sped up my drawing skills. By the end of this week, I reckon that I can finish all my backgrounds.
For the bed, I didn't use a reference photo but instead used the isometric drawing method that I learnt in DT. I also kept the bed relatively simple, so that it didn't steal all the attention away from the mother, who's going to be sitting on the bed. For the shading, I used the line shading method, as that's what I am used to using to draw shades of certain areas. Since I knew that a blanket on a bed would not have a flat surface, and since I wanted to give that feeling how the mum left the bed just as her son left it before death, I made it seem rumbled by adding lots of shading on certain parts. Considering the fact that the MC's afterlife space is going to be in a white background, I wanted to show that there's actually a ground, so I added shading at the bottom of the bed to give that 3D aspect, where the bed isn't floating.
For the chair, I just copied the drawing that I used for my storyboard. Getting the dimensions of the chair was hard, but luckily, when I was drawing the storyboard, I used the chair that I have at home for reference. By shading a lot, the chair was given this "dark" atmosphere, which I was happy about as it gave a different vibe with the white void, like a sinful object in a pure place (?). This chair is going to be the first thing that the MC sees after "death", so I really wanted it to give off that different atmosphere from his "home/real world". I drew more lines are the legs of the chair so that it seems as if it was underneath the chair.
For the bathroom that I messed up, I luckily was available to finish the line art part, so I only had shading to and colouring to do. I could colour in easily by filling it in with a bucket tool, and since the shading part is now what I'm best at, I would easily be able to finish by the end of this week. It didn't take that much of an effort for me to do this background, as I already knew what to do draw from my previous background mishap. I am excited to finally start my characters by the start of next week, and hopefully, draw one character scene this week.

I forgot to take a photo of the bathroom, and I'll try and remember to take a photo of it next time when I do remember. I also have to convert my videos before posting it, so I'll do that this weekend, as I saved all my videos on my sister's laptop.
