Entry 6- Songs and Ideas

This lesson, we started working on our overall project. I already had an idea of what I wanted my animation to be like. I wanted the setting of my animation to be somewhere in the victorian ages and to have a massive plot twist. Apparently, my media projects are known to be dark, so I’m trying to keep up that “reputation”.

At the start of lesson, I tried searching for songs that would suit my animation, which contradicts to my previous journal entry. I wanted a song that was kind of depressing or off-setting, but I also wanted to use one go my favourite songs. It came down too Colours, Blood Bank, (Blank) and some kpop songs. I reckon that Kpop songs would be hard to connect with viewers unless explained, so I scratched that idea. Colours was a good romance song, and I really wanted to do it, but the song didn't suit the idea I had in mind. Also, the music video for colours already had a plot twist in it, and I didn't really want to create another film that may destroy that cinematography.

In the end, I came down to the songs Blood Bank and (Blank). I decided to choose the song (Blank) as Blood Bank had swearing words in it, and I didn't want that to be played out during class sharing time. The lyrics was also kind of hard to match a video with. Now, the reason why I'm calling my song (Blank) is beacuase I want it to be a big reveal in the end. It's not really that important, but I just wanted to keep a secret from my "readers", like my video would most likely have.

I also started planning out the ideas for my film, and this time, I wanted it to be a romance with a plot twist. Something like Dorian Gray? Something set in the Victorian ages I suppose. All the horror stories that I think of when I imagine monsters are set in the Victorian ages. I also really like dresses from the Victorian ages.

That's all that I've done this lesson.
