Entry 1- First Day Back

Today we learnt about what we're going to do for the year and what app we were going to use for this assignment.

The app that we will be focusing on this year is animation-ish. Animation-ish is an app that allows people to make an animation by using several frames, just like a stop motion. 10 frames are equivalent to a second in real life. The theme of the animation that we are supposed to make is Social Issues, such as Suicide, Child Abuse, Phobias and etc. I think that focusing on Social Issues will help us broaden our minds on certain topics, helping us to understand the issue in society more than before.

Today, Mr Powell thought us how to use some basics of animation-ish such as the frames, different tools, clicking and dragging a sample into the frame. I knew everything that he was teaching this lesson as the girls that were in Year 8 had to use Animation-ish to create a How to short animation as an assignment. I am looking forward to adding more knowledge to the existing knowledge to further improve my skills and create a better-looking animation. This year, I am planning on watching various youtube tutorials in order to create a smoother movement and a wide range of emotions. Since Year 8, I have watched more animes, and practiced some Animation-ish from my sister's computer, so I'm hoping to achieve on creating an Animation that can grab someone's attention from the start. He also showed us a short animation of a "thing" drawn only in white with a blue background. That "thing" spoke only in jibberish, and gave various of emotions on his face. This animation apparently earned 1000 billion dollars in profit as people all over the world understood it. I hope that my animation can make people all over the world enjoy as well.

The idea that I was thinking of for my assignment is Suicide, and how it affects at least 6 other people. I read this in a manga that I found over the holidays, I believe that it is an interesting topic to focus on. This idea may also help people to stop committing suicide, which is the whole point of the animation that I am planning to make. I am not sure about who the main character will be or who he/she is going to affect, but I'm pretty set on the idea of him/her jumping off from a ceiling. The reason behind this is me wanting to write, "But what if you stepped forward in a different direction?" meaning that he/she turns around and steps to her future. I might draw out a storyboard or a script when the assignment starts, but for now, I am just going to write some points on my blog whenever I think of it.

Here's a drawing of Sugawara (From the anime Haikyuu!)  I did during the lesson. Even though the line of the Animation-ish is thick, I figured that if I draw on top of that line with the 1st layer colour (If I drew with black on top of a white, white is the 1st layer colour) leaving a little colour of the 2nd layer behind, it'll create a thin 2nd layer coloured line. I learnt this in year 8.
