Entry 4- Sticky Note Animation
This lesson, we only had half of our usual time as there was a meeting going on in our usual classroom. The things that we learnt this lesson was types of animation. Since a lot of our classmates are not confident in their skills of drawing, Mr. Powell showed us an animation in which all the frames were made by yellow sticky notes. The drawings were not overwhelming nor was it advanced, it was just simple. The idea that the sticky notes had, however, was incredibly powerful and well put through. For example, the scene in which the bunny's ears were the Twin Tower and how the 9/11 caused the continuous war between ISIS and America happened. Just by a simple 3 second scene, the message, " Little things cause big things," was conveyed.
The animation also had a part in which the person zoomed out from his car to the world in order to draw out a scene in which he moves to another country. I reckon that this will be easier to be drawn on animation-ish as you just have to zoom out after drawing a world map, whereas, for the sticky notes, he had to draw every single frame by hand.
In addition, the part where he practiced body movements with a black figure of a man really intrigued me, as the figure could also be used in order to show the emotions of distress and anxiety. I am leaning towards of the side of including this in my animation at the start so that I can further convey my character's emotions. "Rather than a mental form, a physical form is easier to portray an idea."
For the remainder of the lesson, I went through the works that the girls did from last year through their media blog, which they uploaded little clips of their work on. Some of the media blogs that I went through drew their own storyboard, which I may on plan to do so that I can have a better vision after I start my animation.
That's all I did for today.
