Entry 10- Start of Assignment
This lesson, we "officially" started our assignment "Movie Posters". We first went over our assignment to figure out what we needed to do to get a good mark, and that it was crucial for us to post our progress on our blog as it is worth 50% of our grade. I am really scared about not getting a good mark because I didn't carefully read over my criteria sheet. Also, we need to use 7 photoshop skills that we learnt in class and add to our blog the skills we learnt from the internet. I am looking forward to learning new photoshop skills from youtube and tutorial sites to enhance my photoshop piece.
The ideas that I came up with for my photoshop pieces are:
I chose to go with Idea 3 as there was actually a meaning and a story behind it, rather than making a composition of "pretty" and "cool" objects. The story behind this movie poster is Suppressed Anger and Controlled Life. The people trapped behinds the walls are the ones who criticize my life, and the corpses are the ones that had a "feud" or an "argument" with me in the past. They are dead because the argument is now over, but the bad memory of them will always be with me, making me remember them every once in a while, which makes me angry at them for a short second which I can't bluntly tell them about hence the reason why the corpses also represent suppressed anger. The people trapped behind the walls are the ones that keep on criticising my life, the biggest stresses in my life. Work, Grades, Friends and etc. They try to get on my nerves every day, and succeeds every once in a while, but I try to trap them out with the wall.
The title of this movie is Soul Eater, literally meaning eating souls. The souls are the sadness anger that happened during the event, that I try to forget by eating them. This was inspired by a Korean comic called Pan Peter, where Peter Pan eats bad memories that the children had in order to keep them safe while slowly destroying himself. I am also snapping a person in half, devouring their souls, meaning that I still have fights and feuds with some people.
My movie poster was inspired by the movie Maleficent, as you can tell by my horns and wings. The challenge for my poster is the mountain of corpses that I will be sitting on, and the people trapped behind a wall. I think that I'll be able to make the mountain of corpses by using the warp tool and pictures of people bending or laying down. For trapped people behind the wall, I might use the sketch filter and then stretch the skin of the person so that it appears as if they're trying to escape.
Overall, I'm looking forward to making this movie poster as it will be a challenge for me. I might be changing my ideas here and there, to make the movie poster unified or natural.
This movie poster was made just before I went to sleep after I finished reading a sad twisted novel, so I am in no way this sad or depressed about my life. Usually, I do not care about what happens around me. I may joke about someone roasting/shading me every once in a while, but I do not really think much of it. The Movie Poster is all just my imagination and weird thoughts after finishing sad stories with sad protagonists.
