Entry 10- Bathroom 2
Today, I finished the remaining half of my bathroom and drew the mirror part in close-up, which got destroyed later on. This lesson, since I knew I was behind work for my animation, I decided to draw in a different spot, separated from my friends.
Afer colouring in all spaces of the bathroom, I was contemplating on whether or not to add water to the bathtub or not, as I planned for the protagonist of this animation to pass out inside the tub. However, I later disregarded that idea as I wanted to make a scene in which he fills up the bathroom tub with water. Back to the topic, after I finished the colouring in of my bathtub, I started shading the toilet with different monochromatic colours. After a while, I realised that I could use the shading technique that I used for my term one photoshop unit, which was creating another layer and then adding painting the areas that I want shading in black, then lowering the opacity of the layer.
For the close up of my bathroom sink and mirror, I had to interpret on how they would look like if I did get close to it, as I did not have a zoomed-in reference photo. To make my sink accurate in size, I brought out the rulers, which can be done by going to view > show rulers. After getting the perfect sink, I started drawing the vase with the dead plants. The vase was drawn by drawing one side of the vase, selecting that side, copy and pasting it, flipping it horizontally, matching it with the other side and then merging the two layers. For the plants, I first made a rough sketch of the plants to see where the plants would fall when dead and then drew a final sketch on the top of it.
Once again, I coloured the image with the same colour scheme that I used for my other bathroom. I did not colour in the mirror, however, as I wanted my protagonist to be reflected this time.
The most frustrating part of all of this, however, was the shading part. I used the same technique as last time, but this time, I forgot to do it on another layer, which resulted in me destroying my work, that I spent minutes on. I sat down in disbelief for a moment before searching for ways to undo past the limit, which apparently was impossible unless it was done before the mistake.
I will have to draw this scenery all over again. That's all that I have done for this lesson.
