Entry 9- Bathroom
For the bathroom, which is to be used for the 2nd scene of my play, I decided to get a reference photo and trace over it, as I thought that would be less time-consuming.
To trace over straight lines, I thought that I could use the same method from Sai first, before searching it up, which happily worked (Click on one point, shift, click on another). I then went on to trace the whole thing, which was time-consuming as there were more lines than I expected. The lines sometimes did not match the original line at all, so I had to skip them. For the vase, I wanted the flowers to be dead, so that it can symbolise his unconscious feelings and to represent an arid sense. Since I wanted the vase to be perfect, I had to zoom in and sketch out little by little, which is the reason why the vase looks wriggly.
After all that, I finally started filling in the colours of the bathroom. I had trouble in some parts when I the paint bucket tool did not work properly as I didn't draw the line segments properly, causing the paint bucket tool to fill in a whole another area as well. At first, I started colouring the bathroom with bright blue colours, as that's what they usually are in animations, but after a while, I realised that it wouldn't match the hallway, so I had to change my colour scheme to monochrome. Since I tried to work with monochromatic colours, it was hard to colour parts a darker shade than the other, as I could not figure out the slight difference in colours. I only got to finish one-half of the bathroom, as I ran out of time today.
That's all that I have done for this lesson.
