Entry 6- Clothes and wind flow
This lesson I started researching about my topic in order to connect with my viewers more.
This lesson I tried practising wind flows. I wanted the girl is my animations hair and clothes to flow in a natural way that a wind would make it move. Mr Powell recommended me of searching up a scene where a skirt is flowing freely as it should, which I could not find. In the end, I researched about wind direction and had to make one of my own. The girl in my drawing was inspired by Princess Mononoke and American Indian clothes. I wanted her to stand on top of a mountain and the wind to flow her hair backwards with the skirt. It would have been a better idea if I drew the body without the clothes or the hair for the background and the clothes and the hair for the foreground, so only the clothes and the hair moved when I had to redraw. It would be nice if the there were two backgrounds to draw instead of one, so that I have more layers to work with
In the end, the animation that I completed had weird legs, that moved and enlarged at weird times. I should have drawn the dress movement in exaggeration, so that the dress looked as if it was really blowing, which was obviously not the case for me. The girls hair also looked too dishevelled rather than moving. I hope that I can fix the mistakes that I have pointed out in my animation.
The animation that I drew consisted of few colours. Since the animation-ish has a limited number in colours, I had to elaborate on the shading. For example, her leg colour and her cape's colour are the same. I noticed that the animation-ish has different brush sizes for different computers as my other computer had a larger brush setting than the one I used this time.
This is all that I've done this lesson as the computer's battery ran out.
At home, with my sister's laptop, I added in a background image, to show that she is actually standing where the sun in coming from the front. I wanted the sky to depict a sunset, so I used a lot of tonal warm colours. To imply the hot weather, I also made the sun move by moving a bit of the sun in the next frame after duplication.
