Entry 2- Chow Chow Sofa
After finishing our Emu and the Tree Frog project, Mr Powell taught us about a site called Britannica, where all the images are free to use without any illegal means. This site was strongly recommended by Mr Powell as some images on google are copyrighted, causing people who do use the copyrighted image to "Perform" an illegal act.
This lesson, Mr Powell showed us photos of people photoshopped with an object, or an animal photoshopped with an object. For example, a cat was photoshopped with a fish to represent a "catfish".
During this lesson, I decided to photoshop a chow chow (my favourite dog) onto a plain white sofa. I first layered the chow chow on top of the sofa and then stretched the chow chow's face to cover the whole entire sofa by pressing command + T. I wanted the chow chow's fur to stick out, to make it appear more natural, but it didn't quite work out when I lacked furs in some areas. I also masked out the chow chow's feet to add onto the sofa leg, but that just created another blank blotch to fix. After copy and pasting the chow chow's fur onto bald spots, I tried to make it seem more natural, which did not work out. Unfortunately, I did not get to finish my piece, which I would like to finish later in my free time. This lesson, I figured out that my basic photoshop skills that I learnt over the past few lessons were not enough to fulfil my ideas and creativity, which was disappointing to know. I would like to watch a video about cloning an animal to an inanimate object later on.
