Entry 7- Floating Head
This lesson, I wanted to make new things, challenge myself into creating new artworks, but I didn't have any idea in my mind, so I searched up great photoshop tutorials on Google and came upon this site. <http://www.digitalartsonline.co.uk/features/illustration/70-best-photoshop-tutorials/> I didn't want to copy directly from the artwork, so I chose the 3rd tutorial and tried to create my own version of it. My idea for this time was "feminity",
meaning that I had to use a lot of girly items and stereotypes. For
this lesson, I chose to focus on the model's head and the background,
and also to sketch out the whole main concept for this artwork.
First, I got a picture of a model's head off from google by typing in "model head-shot" and acquired an image. I then masked off the unwanted areas by using the mask tool. I also had to rotate her face slightly to the right using the transform tool, to make her face straight.
After that, I opened photoshop and followed the first step on the tutorial, but instead of the colour blue, I chose the stereotypical gendered colour for girls, pink. Following that step, I added (layered) the picture of the girl on top of the background and masked off all the unnecessary parts except the head.
For the floor of head part, at first, I wanted to use a picture of grass or the top to create the flat head (?) effect to add flowers and animals on top of her head to make it seem like a farm/garden, but I later realised that it didn't really fit my whole "femininity" concept, so I changed it into a marble floor.
The stuff that I learnt today was the Gradient tool.
