Entry 6: Flower Blooming?

This lesson, I decided to combine my face with someone else's to create a whole new "person". To achieve this, I first masked my face onto hers by using the masking tool. Masking a person's face with someone else's seemed way too simple and "unoriginal" for me, so I split Nadine's face in half and positioned it in a certain way so that the piece appeared as if I was blooming out of her "face". I accomplished this step by using the warp tool, which I learnt from last lesson. I also discovered that the warp tool can be used by clicking and dragging the inside of the selection box, instead of the corners. This step was challenging for me as the face kept on looking out of proportion.

Ater the base of my "creature" or "human" was done, I added a zipper on the inner edges of her face to make it seem as if her face was zipped down. For this step, the transforming tool was used to enlarge the zipper while the warp tool was used to position the zipper. Instead of finishing here, I decided to add a galaxy and some smoke (later turned into blue) on the background to make it seem as if by opening Nadine's face with the zipper, I, the second layer would pop out or "bloom" out with a magical/special aura behind me.

To reflect on my piece, I cannot say that I'm satisfied with it. The whole photo does not look harmonious as the elements all crash together. Some spots are visibly masked sloppily, which makes me cringe inwardly. I would like to try making this again on another time before the end of this year.
