Entry 18 - 3.5 backgrounds
Today I finished working on all my backgrounds; The full bathroom, the table, and the door.
Like always, I created a new document in photoshop by 1600 x 1300 with a 5 resolution. I started off by roughly sketching out what I wanted my desk to look like. I tried to make it as similar as I could to the storyboard that I made, but through some complications, I realised that drawing legs for the tables were hard without an isometric graph paper, so my results came out looking lanky and weird. After that, I created a 2nd layer, turned the opacity down for the 1st layer and "traced" it. I did this with a 1pt pen and used the shift click system to draw a perfectly straight line like most tables usually have. Since I didn't want my desk to look similar as the desk that I used for the Dad's office desk, I had to make it look like a basic wooden desk that you'd find in Ikea (I didn't use a reference for this). I shaded the desk using the line technique once again and tried to make it look as realistic as possible.
I once again created a document in photoshop, with the same dimensions as all my others, 1600 x 1300. Since I've been drawing doors for a fair amount of time, I had a rough idea of what a bedroom door would look like. I wanted the bedroom door to seem "fancy" and normal like the door people saw for Boo's door in Monster's Inc. Some frames here and there, but kind of simple. I, of course, didn't add in flowers and kept it simple to match my animation colour scheme, but I was overall going for the basic white door look. I didn't sketch out a drawing for a door this time, but instead went straight into my final draft as most of the shapes on my door were rectangles. For the frames inside of my door, I erased the corners and added a diagonal line, to make it seem "fancier". I then shaded it using the line technique and kept in mind to shade the inner frames, as I believed that that place would be where the light would not reach the most.
I redrew the hallway, and used the other hallway that I once drew as a reference guide, except I got rid of most of its complicated designs.
I also re-shaded the full bathroom to match the rest of my backgrounds, as that bathroom was the only background without the line shading.
That's all that I've done for this lesson.
