Entry 23- Protagonist 2

Today I drew the frontal side of the protagonist and him sitting on the chair.

For the start of my animation, I needed a close up of the protagonists face. Using a photo of a closed eye as a guide, I drew an eye for the close up. I then duplicated this layer and then flipped it vertically. I moved the 2nd layer to the right side so that I had a symmetric pair of eyes. After this, I drew the nose like I normally do and drew the mouth in a w shape. I also discovered that by creating a layer on top of a line art and clipping it, when colour is added, it affects the lines of the layer underneath, and it's honestly the best thing I have ever come across. I made the eyebrows and eyes brown, the nose and lips pink. I coloured the face like I did for my other face. I used an airbrush pencil to tint the lips pink.

Drawing the front side of the protagonist was easy, as I did the same steps that I did for the back side of the protagonist. This time, however, I did not colour it in, as I only needed it for when the afterlife scenes. Like always, I drew a fat stick figure on the first layer, and then on another layer, I drew his clothes. I planned on transferring the head that I already drew onto this one, but for some idiotic reason, I did not save it, so I had to draw another one all over again.

Opening a new document, I started drawing his face like I did for my other face, slanted eyes, curly hair and etc. I shaded it using the line technique and saved it as Boy 31. Since I needed to use this for the scene where he cried and screamed, I needed to redraw the mouth 6 times, where the redrawn mouth was slightly ajar than the previous one. To redraw the mouth at the same position, I had to lower the opacity for the previous one ,add another layer and then draw on top of it. For this one, I also made the eyebrows tilt upwards, so that he had a frowning expression. I saved all the 6 images as Boy 32, 33 ,34 ...

Going back to my front side of the protagonist, I transferred the image of Boy 31 and then adjusted it so that it fit his neckline. I then shaded the remaining clothes.

In my animation, I was supposed to have this dramatic life story for the protagonist, but since I was running out of time, I decided to do important life events only; The graduation, marriage, and life.

For the graduation, I simply drew the graduation cloak and hat over him on another layer and drew an image of a birthday cracker. I drew the graduation cloak and the hat in black, as I wanted a strong contrast between him and what he could have had. I saved the drawing and then added the popping things in the fire cracker to add onto my animation. I once again saved this. For the marriage, I simply drew a black tuxedo on top of the protagonist. I then drew some love hearts next to him.  For the life, I just drew a baby in his arms.

Drawing him sitting on a chair was really a pain, as I just couldn't get the body anatomy right. I had to draw it by referencing the left side of Cindy. I also took a photo of Cindy's fist to use as a reference to draw. The steps that it took for me to draw the person was the same as all my other black and white drawings. This one, however, I had to use the free deform tool to get it right, several times. ლ(ಠ益ಠლ) I also drew the handcuffs this time. I had to draw the handcuffs cuffing him a little by little, saving it each time as a different name.

That's all that I've done this lesson.
