Entry 21- Minor Stuff
Today I decided to draw the minor additions that I would use in my animation, something like props I suppose.
I first started out by drawing the hands. I tried using a hand drawing tutorial <http://www.ratemydrawings.com/tutorials/drawing/138-Tips_for_drawing_hands.html> and it really did help me. I also used my own hand as a reference, to see where I should put the curves and the wrinkles. I first started out by drawing my left hand, as that was my less dominant hand and I wouldn't have to let go of my pen every time I needed to see a reference. I then shaded it using the line technique. After that, I duplicated the layer of the hand, flipped it vertically and then positioned it next to the left hand, so that I had a pair of hands. I saved that as Hand in a JPG file.
After that, I drew the face of my person. Since I drew him to have curly hair in my other one, I had to make this one have curly hair as well. Whenever I saw "depressed" characters in anime, they had bangs, so I gave him a curly hair with bangs. For the eyes, I drew different types of eyes to test out which one would suit my animation the best. In the end, I wanted my character to have slanted eyes, so I drew out his upper eyelids to go down. For the overall face shape, I simply drew an octagon, but more stretched out and rounded the edges a little more. I then drew his nose, like I did for my practice drawing weeks ago, and drew the mouth like a simple w shape. After that, I shaded it using the line technique. Creating another layer underneath the layer that I just drew in, I started colouring in my main character. For the face, I first coloured it in with a marker tool, but later used a brush tool to shade it. For the clothes, I went over it with a marker tool, but an airbrush to shade. For the hair, I once again coloured it with the marker tool, but then used the chalk tool to shade.
I redrew the eyes from the closing to the opening and saved each file as a separate JPG.
I also worked on an additional background; the bathtub from the side. This was relatively easy, as I only need to draw lots of rectangles. On my storyboard, the bathtub was placed in the middle, but after looking at my full bathroom drawing, I realised that the bathtub was placed against the wall, so I had to fix that. After drawing the line art for my bathroom, instead of creating a second layer and filling it in, I just used the fill bucket tool and filled the bathroom in with monochrome colours. After that, I shaded it using the line technique. I somehow cannot find a photo for this.
I drew the scene where he's handcuffed to the chair and he's trying to move out. I only had to draw the same way as I did for the storyboard, so I did not need to draw a reference guide. I used the line shading technique and tried my best to make it appear as if the leg were to be 3D, not flat.
That's all that I've done this lesson.
