Entry 12 - Underwater and Cup
Sarah filmed some cool underwater shots at home for our media project. She changed her clothes between the green dress and the white dress she wore for the film for the drowning scenes.
Since I wasn't there and when she shot the scenes, I'm not really sure what went through her mind as the shots that I imagined for the underwater scene were not the same as what she filmed. I think this relates back to that lesson with Mr. Andrews where he talked about how everyone images things differently.
She gave me 14 videos in total, in which 3 of them were white dress drowning and 4 of them were green shirt drowning. Some of the videos seemed to seem similar, but I don't think that that's much of a problem. The underwater scene was actually pretty cool, but it was kind of obvious that the pool was shallow. I reckon if we zoom in her face, and leave little space for the background, the pool would seem much deeper than what it actually is.
The rest 7 videos were different.
The first video was of her running towards the pool. This was shot as a long shot, showing her and the pool side by side. The audience can also tell that she is looking down at the pool with confusion and fear through her expression. Her pace of running also slows down in front of the pool, implying that she doesn't want to go near it.
The second video was a long close up shot of her walking backwards and shaking her head, which clearly showed that she did not like what she was seeing. I think that we're going to crop the video so that it becomes at least a medium shot, so that she takes up more film space. She also walks backwards, but there's not really much space there, showing how she's pushed the corner.
The third video was of her looking back as a long shot (?). However, I don't think that we're going to use this shot as we changed up our storyboard so that satan doesn't chase after her.
The fourth video was of her being pushed into the water because of a strong water force. A long shot was used to show her whole body getting hit by the water.
The fifth video is personally my favourite, but it's a video underwater where there's a lot of bubbles because of the impact it made when Sarah jumped inside the pool. This would be a good transaction video from when she gets in the water to when she wakes up. The bubbles also creates a sense of chaos as it's everywhere.
The sixth video is a video of her jumping into the water backwards underneath the water. This created a cool perspective shot, where what happened in the fourth video correlates nicely with this one. It was shot from a low to high angle as if it were seeing from the bottom of the water.
The seventh video was a video of her falling into the water backwards outside the water. This shot was cool as well, as the camera was positioned low to make it seem as if the fall was greater than what it actually was.
This is what Sarah did.
At home, I filmed the scene where Satan pours water into the cup and God knocks it off of his hands. To do this, I set my camera at eye level, because I wanted to represent the space that he was in as 0, where everything is equal. It's like a state of nothing. We originally thought of filming this scene in front of a black background, but seeing how I was also wearing black, I deemed that to be a bad colour choice, so I chose a white background instead. This way, the viewer's attention focused solely on me. I asked my mum for assistance on knocking the water out of my hand.
That's the additional things we filmed outside of school.
