Entry 19- Final Product

On the weekend, I finally finished my Mythical Me Unit of Work.

For my hands, I was originally supposed to add a person to it, broken in half, but that idea had to be trashed as I wanted the person to be anyone. So instead of getting a real life person to be my model, I decided to use an art wooden doll to symbolise anyone. As usual, I downloaded an image of a wooden doll and placed it on top of all my layers. I erased the bits that I did not need and split the doll in half by selecting half the doll and transferring it away from the other half. This allowed me to have an upper-body section and a lower body section. After that, I positioned the upper section onto my left hand, rotating it 180 degrees so that the head was heading downwards. I repeated this step for the lower section, but instead on the right hand, and no rotation. The opacity of the layer was then lowered so that I could see where to erase, in order for the hand to seem as if I were to be grabbing it. Shadows were then added in places that I reckoned the shadows would be, by creating a new layer, colouring the places where the shadows should be in black, and then fading out the edges by a 5% flowed eraser. The opacity of this layer was lowered to 20% and the opacity of the wooden doll was returned back to normal.
Before shadows

After Shadows

From the internet, I got an image of black feathers falling in a PNG format in order to save time, and then simply added it to my assignment. I positioned the feathers into where I reckoned the wings would fall and then repeated this step 4 times by rotating and flipping it.

The name for my movie is "Soul Eater", therefore, without someone eating a soul, the movie poster would be vague and meaningless. Since I didn't want that to happen, I got an image of a blue smoke and added it near my mouth and the broken doll, so that it seemed as if I was sucking out the soul from the doll.

As for the movie title, I went to the site <http://www.flamingtext.com.au/All-Logos > and then used the harry potter logo to generate my Soul Eater logo. After that, I placed it on top of the mountain of corpses, as I didn't want to cover the faces on the wall, and added a sub-title, A twisted story of a broken girl.

A shadow effect was added once again with the same steps that I used for all my previous shadows, but this time for the whole entire photo to indicate where the shadow was coming from. I could have used the lighting effect under filter > render, but the Photoshop CS5 that I had on my old computer did not have that option.

That's the end of my photoshop unit.
