Entry 15- Me
Today I decided to make myself look closer to something like a siren bird from the greek mythology. When I was young, I had a strange fascination for siren birds as they were portrayed as something beautiful yet deadly. I wondered what they would sound like every time I read their story arc. Back to the procedure, to achieve my siren look, I first tried to make my legs look similar to of a bird, so I had to get photos of bird's (Hawk's) claw from the internet. This step was harder than I thought out to be as there were almost no photos of hawk feet in the position I wanted.
After downloading the picture from the internet, I transferred my layer so that it aligned with my leg so that it'd be easier later on when I work with warp transforming. Keeping up with my words, after aligning the layer with my leg, I resized the claw so that the size of it would be similar to the size of my leg. This would make my whole leg look more natural after warp transforming.
After that, I used warp transform and warped it so that the shape of the claw took a similar shape with that of my leg. I had to this several times, as shaping a claw to a leg could not be achieved at first try. I also had to take note of the top of the claws to wrap around my leg, for me to blend with later on. I repeated this step with my other leg.
After all that, I decided to add fur textures on my arms and legs, to unify the whole image, and to make myself look more bird-like. I left some areas of skin, in order for less confusion later on. Like always, I download an image of a brown fur from the internet and then added it to my photoshop. I transferred the layer to go where I wanted it to be, which in this case was my left leg and positioned it so that the fur's flow matched with my legs direction. After that, I simply added a masking layer, and then masked out the bits I did not need, leaving a few space from the spot that I did need. I then lowered my flow of the brush to 5-10 percent and started blending/masking away the leftover bits, so that it blended in with my real skin. I repeated these steps for my arms and the other leg. For the legs, I did an additional step of blending the fur with the claws, and adding some textural movement, so that the fur did not seem blunt (added some fur on top of the claws to make the blending of the fur and claws seem more natural, instead of cutting the fur off at the knee).
This is all that I've done for today.
