Entry 11-Storyboard

Our group didn't have time to meet up. Alisa was out for the weekend. Pypah and I was supposed to meet up during Sunday, but that obviously didn't work out so I just did it at home with the help of my family. It took a lot of time, so I felt bad for my family.

1. I didn't really know how to get the lighting right for the first board (?). I wanted the lighting to surround me, but I also didn't want to do that because that would make it seem as if I'm evil. Therefore, I placed the light in the background, on a slight 45-degree angle on the right side. This lit up half of my face, creating some darkness while still acting as a fill light. In addition, the box is lit up as well created a feeling of the box being important. The reason we decided to shoot this shot in a low to high angle is to make it seem as if the camera is in the drawer. It creates the feeling of always being watched from where he wasn't supposed to touch.

Since I didn't have anyone to help me film on this one, I sadly had to use the front camera. This shot isn't as good as I wanted it to be.

2. I wanted the femme fatale to seem ominous and scary, thus creating darkness around her. However, I wanted her to be dimly lit as well as the box, to show that she's the main focus of the shot and that she's evil. To do this, I put my phone in the middle with the light source dim, so that I could create a shot with very low exposure.

3. For this shot, I wanted the shadow to be on the wall to create that film noir feeling. I also wanted the knife to be in the shot as well so that it creates a mystery for the viewerss to solve. The dead man having slight darkness around him creates an ominous vibe of what a film noir should have.

4. We honestly rushed this at school. The photo before was more orange and full of colours, so I had to use desaturation and tone change to make it seem better. The whole purpose of this shot was to make the guy wake up to realise he has blood on his hand. Therefore, we had to create a shot with a heavy tone, but we didn't. At least it's in POV. We couldn't use lighting for this shot as we didn't have a reflector.

5. This shot was where the police brought him up to get investigated. We used a high to low angle shot to show that the police is powerful and the guy not. The guy is also backed up by a wall which makes him seem as if he has no place to go. We also couldn't use lighting for this one.

6. This shot is the part where the femme fatale lights up the dude's face for a second. This is because we want the viewers to know that the dude right now is "nice" because he doesn't have any memories of the killing. We used a high to low angle shot make the dude less powerful. I got the inspiration of lighting up the criminals face for a second in Korean films and the shot from vanity fair film noir.

7. This shot is where the guy realises that he's seen the cigarette somewhere. Therefore, since we wanted to put a heavy focus on the cigar, we had a close-up shot of that in the middle. I also made the investigator's face lit to show that she's nice. It can be seen that she's powerful from the relaxed body position she has.

8. This shot is similar to the previous shot, this time I put a focus on the drink.

9. For this shot, I wanted to create a darker mood because it's kind of his "final" trigger before he gets to justify himself. Therefore, there are harsh shadows on the table. In addition, the investigator is tapping on top of the document with the words TOP SECRET and the case line. This kind of implies that she's waiting for the case to be sorted out by directly putting an impact on it.

10. This shot, I wanted Jack to look inferior and evil, therefore I cut half of him out of the shot and only showed his side view, which was dimly lit. The investigator was shown to have power by placing her fully in the shot. It can also be seen that she's not fully nice as she is kind of covered by light while her entire front is lit. This is because the investigator didn't fully listen to Jack and ignored what may have been the clue to solving this murder mystery. I used the paper on the table as a reflector to light up the investigator's face from the desk lamp.

11. This shot I rushed. I wanted the people to see the femme Fatale's face as she sees Jack in the hallway. It would have been better if the femme fatale's face was lit with soft lines from the side to show that she's acting innocent but she's not really. I'm also not using any rules in this shot. The fill light is eating up the light that should be on the people. This shot is really bad omg.

12. This shot, I also rushed. I tried to make it a low to high shot so that it's a POV shot from Jack while also showing that the femme fatale is in power. I made the shot dark because it's supposed to happen during the night time. I should have placed myself right in the line of third, but I didn't for some reason. The photo is also very gray, cause there's little to no light at all.

13. This shot, I couldn't get the light right. It's similar to shot 11. I was rushing it and I didn't have power to control the light because it was in the hallway of an apartment. I at least put her in the line of third. She's half lit and half not.
