Entry 16 - First Scene with "Group"

We were supposed to get lots of scenes done today, but because of personal reasons, we couldn't. (I hope we don't have personal reasons in the future) Therefore, Alisa and I only had 30 minutes to get at least one scene done. I was really bummed out because I asked my mum to bring all these stuff and I couldn't even use 75% of it because of "personal reasons".

I brought two tripods from home. While setting up the light onto it, my tripod (not the light) broke. Really sad, but I can't do anything about it but to super glue it back on one day. We still used the tripod, but the tripod wasn't stable.

Alisa and I didn't know how a DSLR worked, therefore we didn't know how to control the exposure. After a long time of research, we realised that the exposure on camera can be changed from the setting unlike the dial for photographs.

Since it was dark, we decided to film the scene where the husband gets murdered (we only had the husband and Jack anyways, we had no choice). Mr Andrews told us that he wanted a canted shot for this scene, therefore we did a canted shot. Now that I think about it, it would have been better if the camera was shot from a high to low angle on the husband, but we did an eye level shot.

Anyways, with the exposure on -3, we shot the scene where Jack stabbed the husband. In our first try, the knife didn't appear in the shot, so we had to film it again. We tried our best to make the shadow get on the back wall and light half of Alisa's face to create the film noir lighting. I think it came out great.

For our second shot, we used a pedestal shot while Alisa slid down the wall because she was stabbed. We changed our lighting to the side so that my shadow was on top of her and her shadow could clearly be seen on the wall. We had to shoot this shot twice because the movement of going down wasn't smooth for the first try. The use of high to low angle in this shot is good I reckon.

That's all we got to do today. I hope we get everything done by the weekend ;/
