Entry 14 - Outside

Today was a total mess. We tried filming outside, but the lighting wasn't great in every single shot. Therefore, we kind of changed spots in order to get "better" lighting. I'm afraid that the background change may appear too obvious in our film. I don't think that I'm going to use any of these shots unless I'm really desperate.

The first shot that we did was of her back in a long close-up shot. We wanted to shoot her back to show her vulnerability. The long shot emphasises her loneliness, as it shows that no one is beside her. We shot this twice, one where she's close to the middle and one where she's on the line of third.

The second shot that we did was a medium shot that showed a little side profile of her face. The showing back idea is similar as before, but the showing of her side shows a bit of emotion, which is sadness. In this shot, the grave is in clear view, to suggest the idea of mourning for the dead.

The third shot was a medium close-up shot of her face was shot, with her facing little to no frame space. The shot isn't really aesthetically pleasing, as there's no angle in use. The buildings also in the background, so I don't think I'm going to use this shot.

The fourth shot was a medium shot of her looking at the grave. This time, we put her in the middle to make her the main focus of the shot. We did this because we positioned her in the line of third too much, which would make our film not balanced. Once again, there's no angle in use which makes this shot very boring. The buildings are also in the background.

The fifth shot was a low to high angle shot from a low position. We did this because we wanted to give the idea of the grave/parents looking at her and that she's not really alone. It's kind of a foreshadowing of the uncle. However, this shot is really shaky as we couldn't get the tripod that down low.

The sixth shot is of me walking towards Dayna. This was shot in a long shot. Now that I see it again, this shot is really bad because my feet are showing. In addition, the shot is too long. It would be great if there's a close-up shot of Dayna's face and then my face to add tension, but we didn't do that. If I'm desperate to use this shot, I could crop it but I'm not really down for it.

The seventh shot is me walking towards Dayna, saying a quote, her rebutting and then me walking towards the grave. The shot is bland because we tried our best to not get the school building in it. Furthermore, this is a really bad shot because the lighting does not match with the previous shot. To be honest, all the shots lighting does not match because we constantly moved around to get good light, which was a stupid idea. It would have been great to film during the sunset to have some mood and get better lighting, but my teammates had schedule conflicts.

The eighth shot was a close-up shot of Dayna's face looking puzzled. The shot is blurry, so I'm 100% not going to use it. The light in the background also created a reflected light onto her face, which didn't suit with the other shots.

The ninth shot is a medium-high to low angle shot of me dropping a flower. The shot is kind of shaky. Not sure why because we had it on a tripod. The position of the camera is kind of bad as well, as it's just straightforward towards the flower.

The tenth shot is a close-up shot of the flower on the ground. The shot once again, is blurry. It might appear blurry from the intense natural light, or the shot just wasn't focused. It would have looked really cool if the shot was focused.

The eleventh shot is a close-up shot of the flower. We shot this shot twice as I found out that the first shot was blurry during the shoot.

That's all we did today.
