Entry 16 - Rough Edit
Today we gave feedback on each other's rough edits. Before getting onto that, I'll like to point out some flaws that I found whilst doing my rough edit.
The shots that we took in the central hall bedroom were really blurry and just overall bland in terms of cinematography. There were not particular angles used, and the panning shot was kind of slow and laggy (?). Furthermore, the part where charlotte took out the box didn't really match with the previous shot, because she takes out the box in the previous shot, but just the album in the next shot. Also, the part where she lies down on the ground doesn't match with the next shot where she gets up. It would have been okay if the shot types were different, but the same shot type, long shot high to low angle shot, was used, so it seemed as if Charlotte teleported a cm.
The outside shots were all bad. I didn't use any of them. The lighting was inconsistent, and all the shots were just bad.
The shot where she turns the knob was also really blurry.
Furthermore, I couldn't use all of the shots that we took, as I left the camera at school. I created the rough edit, with the shots that I already had. I then uploaded this onto google docs, to allow my group members to have it and submit it. Since I also wanted to show the rest of the shots to the class to get feedback on it, I asked my group members to do the rest of the rough edit during lunch time, as I was absent from school, but they didn't see/read my messages. Therefore, I had to hand it in the next day.
Feedback:
The stair shots are too long.
Feedback on others:
I really liked Stephanie, Lily and Lilly's team's film. It had this strange vibe to it that made it seem very cold and distant.
I also really liked Transia's film, with all the effects and special make up. It made the whole film pretty scary and heavy.
Cindy's film was also great, especially when they opened up the book, but the BGM was kind of funny.
