Entry 12 - Killing

This lesson I worked on creating the death scene of Edward. As done last lesson, Jane has this weird red thing on her back. I wanted to implement this when she kills Edward, so that monstrous thing has a purpose.I decided to do this in istopanimation, as I didn’t have my puppets ready yet to actually have the kagune stuck to her back, and I needed to start working on my animation.

I first started off by filling the whole panel with green on my background layer, so that I can easily greenscreen it out. I wanted this to be more like a shadow, and have the viewers attention solely on this scene, cause it shows how their relationship isn't really love.

After that, having the image of what the girl would look like from the side in mind, I started drawing her with the smallest black brush on the background. I then used the paint bucket tool to fill the blank parts in. I repeated the same step for the boy, but on the foreground. This way, when I'm trying to move them using the keyframes, only one moves.

I duplicated the foreground and made the boy's leg move slightly backwards. I repeated this step 6 times, to create a walking motion. I then selected the 6 frames and then duplicated them up to 120 frames to create 12 secs worth of animation. I did the same for the background. On the last and the first frame for the foreground, I added a key frame. Using the move tool, I made him move backwards and then downwards, by adding another keyframe in the middle.

For the background, I added a keyframe for the first and the middle. I made her move to the middle. I then individually drew moving actions for her kagune sprouting out of her back and then attacking the boy.

That's all that I did this lesson.
